A Brooklyn teacher has been arrested for throwing a 12-year-old boy to the ground during an argument, cops say.
Marquell Singleton, 30, clashed with the pre-teen student around 12:30 p.m. Saturday at PS 178 Saint Clair Mckelway on Dean Street near Saratoga Avenue in Brownsville, police said.
The pair was arguing, and at some point during the scuffle, Singleton allegedly grabbed the boy and hurled him to the ground, causing him to hit his head.
It was unclear what injuries the boy may have suffered or why the school was open Saturday.
Singleton was arrested Monday and charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child, cops said.
“This alleged behavior is absolutely reprehensible and will not be tolerated,” the city Department of Education said in a statement. “This employee was removed from the school and students, and we will work with the NYPD as they investigate. If convicted, we will move to terminate him. The safety and wellbeing of our students remains our top priority.”
